OK. So here’s the answer to the question which I posed last Wednesday and which you can read in the archive. Person #1 should shoot straight up in the air and not at anyone. His best chance of "survival" is to be the first shooter in a two man fight. Consider the alternatives: if he was to shoot and miss Person 2, then Person 2 would likely return fire. If he missed then he would need to rely on Person 3 to fire at Person 2 – much too risky. If he does succeed and hit Person 2, then Person 3 never misses. Game over. However, if he shoots in the air, Person 2 is likely to attempt a shot at Person 3, his most dangerous contender. If he hits, then Person 1 is the first shooter in a two man fight. If Person 2 misses, Person 3 is most likely to take the return shot at Person 2 and he never misses. Again, this leaves Person 1 as the first shot in a two man fight. His best option is to fire the first shot into the air. Is this a nice solution for Valentine’s Day or what? 🙂
