Nothing

Continuing on the thought from last week, I believe that Joseph needed to realize that he was nothing. In Genesis 40:8, he says, “Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.” Although at first glance this might not seem wrong, I believe there was a progression in his life until the next chapter in verse 16 when Joseph tells Pharoah, “It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” He goes from telling Pharoah’s officers to tell him the dreams, to telling Pharoah that it was not in him. During those long years prison, he came to realize that he really was nothing. And this is probably the most difficult lesson for us, for me, to learn. Study well four words, “The flesh profiteth nothing.” John 6:63 On a totally side note to this and unrelated, I thought I should add on here that both my oldest sister and her husband, as well as my oldest brother and his wife, are expecting children. Smile.
